A Perception of a Hand Shake
When analyzing handshakes, you can focus on several elements.
Flesh has nothing to do with skin color unless there is an evaluation of a skin condition. Flesh is the first category in my evaluations because it is the easiest to analyze without eye inspection. Other than grip, flesh is the the first thing recognized in hand shaking or hand holding.
We’ve all experienced the clammy hand shake, and we’ve all experienced the rough hand shake. When most experience one of those types of greetings, there is a brief moment after when there is an acknowledgement of the uniqueness of the encounter. With a little more understanding of flesh, you will be able to integrate more information about future encounters like these into something that may be useful to you.
The qualities of flesh can be easily related to the qualities of soil, and the flow of energy can be easily related to the flow of water. When clay soil becomes hard, what happens during and after a heavy rain? Water is not easily absorbed, and dangerous flash flooding is very likely to occur.
The next time you shake the hand of someone who has rock hard hands, you can wager that you are dealing with someone who is very direct. If you are looking to develop a relationship with this person, you should recognize that this individual will take you as you present yourself and your words as you deliver them. You are meeting someone who will require time to nurture a relationship of long lasting mutual trust and respect.
When soil becomes oversaturated, the landscape becomes marshy. There is no more tolerance for absorption, and there is a restriction to flow. Water can remain slow and stagnant for long amounts of time.
The next time you shake the hand of someone who has cold and clammy hands, you can wager that you are dealing with someone who needs to be coaxed out of his shell in some or all ways. This is an individual who has great quantities of expertise and information at his disposal, and it will be to your advantage to be patient with their personality, whether it is meek or whether it has nondescript pull. Being authentic, asking questions, listening and giving small amounts of information at a time goes a long way with this person.
Each of these polar examples emphasize the nuances of reading flesh. The next time you are networking or meeting someone important, shake the individual’s hand, and make note of the obvious characteristics of his/her flesh. See if you can extrapolate some of the traits of the individual you are dealing with. It may contribute to the advantage of business being conducted with greater ease and profitability by many accounts.
